The next BlackBerry handset has had plenty
of exposure recently, flaunting its wares under the codename BlackBerry Venice.
It's been reported, however, that it's real name will be the BlackBerry Priv.
The source of this information will be
familiar to those following the story of BlackBerry's Android slider, as it
comes from @evleaks on Twitter, who reported the details, while also offering
up a new image of the device.

It's an unusual name, if true, but it
follows the trend of recent BlackBerry handsets having names rather than using
numbers, which was the trend in BlackBerry's heyday. Recent launches include
the Passport, Classic and Leap, so perhaps Priv fits.
The interesting thing about this handset
is that it marks a departure from BB's own OS, instead offering fully-fledged
Android, so able to access the Play Store and all of Google's services.
It's also a slider, reported to have a
5.4-inch display up top, with a QWERTY physical keyboard down below and it
should come with a fully-packed spec sheet in other departments too.
There's no confirmation from BlackBerry of
when we'll see this device, but currently we believe it's going to be launching
in mid- to late-November.
We've been keeping up with the whole story
behind the BlackBerry Venice/Priv right here for those who want to know
more.
